Scents and fragrances: I discovered DS & Durga when I was in nyc in August 2024. I gravitated towards a few specific scents and the one that stuck out the most was their Coriander scent. I loved the musky and earthy scents and quickly became obsessed with the brand. I remember walking to Le Labo right after and being utterly dissapointed by the lack of layers and depth compared to DS & Durga. I later discovered Coriander is described as "Sparkling leaf, cubeb, green pepper, & cracked coriander seed. Cool spices & Black Sea breeze—like the hills above Odessa" (all roads lead back to Ukraine...). I was raving about it to everyone and Collin surprised me with it for Christmas 2025. I wasn't expecting it at alllll and was freaking out about it. I still can't believe I have it. When I went to the mall with Mikayla we stopped by Crate and Barrel and I tried out their lotions. I didn't know they had lotions and room sprays, etc. and was floored by their Fig and Amber lotion. The scent has so much depth and is so strong. I also find that it has slight exfoliating effects that leaves my hands feeling super soft for days after use and the scent doesnt leave after a few hand washes. I use it as a small treat before bed and when I wake up my sheets smell like fig and amber.
Hobbies: I first became aware of filet crochet when seeing my friend Lyra's art exhibition one summer a few years ago. I was fascinated by the style of filet crochet and the images Lyra created using it. I was interested in trying it myself but the idea disappeared for a long time. I became re-acquainted with it when I came across a Russian crochet Instagram account and saw all the creative tapestries that were posted on the account. I then became obssessively interested in filet crochet and was quickly coming up with all kinds of ideas for tapestries to make. The learning curve was difficult for me. I spent around a month almost obsessively troubleshooting the errors I was running into and working on small projects to build up to bigger ones. I ended up making 5 filet crochet tapestries and I'm currently working on my magnum opus. My interest in woodworking started from the loss of a Lane rhythm table I saw on the sidewalk but didn't pick up. I instantly recognized it as a table that fits all my requirements (thin, low to the ground, sleek) but doubted myself because of being conscious of what Collin would think bringing extra furniture into our apartment. The next day I realized the table would go perfectly in my bedroom and I ran to the spot where I last saw it and of course it was gone. I still feel a tinge of sadness and regret when I think about the whole situation but I don't think I would have gotten into woodworking otherwise. I started obsessively looking for it online and on facebook marketplace. I then got into woodworking tiktok and became inspired by all the things people were making. I hit up my friend Max who has a bunch of woodworking tools and we both made photo frames. I attempted to make a table similar to the Lane table but didn't have enough time one day and then it became too cold. I'm looking forward to getting back into it in the Spring, I have so many projects I want to make with wood. Lastly, one of my most treasured possessions is my collection of film photos I took in the Balkans. I took a little over 300 film photos and recently finished photoshopping the dates off the photos. I've been posting them on my Balkans on film Instagram account.
